WERS 60th Anniversary Celebration - Music

New England’s oldest non-commercial radio station celebrates 60 years on-air with the WERS 60th Anniversary Celebration. This landmark event takes place on Sunday, March 15th at 7PM at the historic Cutler Majestic Theater in Downtown Boston.

About WERS 88.9FM:
WERS 88.9FM is Emerson College’s award winning non-commercial radio station. Student run and professionally managed, it serves New England an eclectic blend of programming and more live in-studio performances than any station in the region. The station was founded in 1949 as New England’s first non-commercial radio station and receives nearly half of its annual budget from listener support in its two on-air fundraising drives.

According to The Princeton Review, WERS is the number one college radio station in America—an award the station has won or come close to winning almost every year since The Princeton Review began ranking colleges.

In June 2007, WERS inaugurated a translator station on 96.5FM in New Bedford, Massachusetts, relaying WERS programming to New Bedford and nearby communities. Another translator, on 101.5Fm in Gloucester, Massachusetts went on the air in July 2008. WERS can be heard on iTunes radio under the “Eclectic” and “Public” categories.
