Columbinus Summary

20 years after the horrifying events in Littleton, CO first shocked America, this gripping new production of Columbinus highlights the events leading up to the tragedy, and just how far we've come...or have we?

Columbinus, a play sparked by the April 1999 massacre at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo., is a meeting of fact and fiction that illuminates the realities of adolescent culture by exploring the events surrounding the shootings. The play weaves together excerpts from discussions with parents, survivors and community leaders in Littleton as well as police evidence to bring to light the dark recesses of American adolescence.

Columbinus had its Off-Broadway premiere at the New York Theatre Workshop on May 22, 2006. Which was nominated for 4 Helen Hayes awards and 2 Lucille Lortel awards. This 2019 production will be the first New York City Off Broadway revival.
