Romantic Misadventures of Ah Q is a musical tragicomedy of China's best-known underdog.

Ah Q is a poor vagrant who suffers perpetual poverty and humiliation but carries on with his daily battles to remain alive and to keep his self-esteem, in a way not unlike that of Don Quixote.

The musical’s original composition fuses with rhythmic clowning techniques of Chinese Gaojia opera. Its simplicity and directness in style and poignancy in theme make it easy to appreciate, to laugh, and contemplate.
