Almost Heaven weaves together the songs of John Denver to create a uniquely theatrical narrative that reflects upon the country during the years in which Denver wrote them. Denver's songs are rediscovered and reinvented, performed by six singers and five musicians against a backdrop of stunning visual images of America in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, a time of social unrest and political protest. Almost Heaven shows how Denver’s music captures the noble yet earthy quality of the American soul, and how it has carved an indelible mark in the heart of the country.
